World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades can be used to improve the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade it could raise an item's Mark level or Rarity, and also boost other stats.
Upgrades to gear in The War Within requires a specified number of Flightstones and Crests Each item has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a certain amount.
Item Level
The value of an item's stats base increase when it is upgraded. The value is the sum of all its leveled up perks (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrades can be expensive depending on the person you hire and what you do. This is because of how many perks must be replaced in order for the item to be upgraded.
It is also used as a gating requirement when queueing for raids, dungeons and scenarios. It also serves as a gating requirement when queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios, and to limit the amount of PvP gear a player can wear (since PvP is limited to the lower levels). The average item level is listed on the character sheet.
When deciding whether to purchase or sell equipment, players can compare the level of an item. It's an excellent indicator of an item's quality and the amount of damage it is capable of dealing with. The level of an item can be used to compare items when looking at the inventory of a vendor.
On PC, you are able to view the item level by pressing ALT or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will show the item's full description, including the ilvl. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel in chat.
There are several theories about the method by which the level of an item is calculated. One theory says that the level of an item is calculated using formulas that determine the worth of the stats of an item really are. It is based on the fact that different perks are valued differently, and that gems found in sockets increase the item's value. This can result in a calculated value for the item's ilvl which is usually close to Blizzard's actual item level.
However, this isn't the only factor which can affect an item's ilvl as the level of the region the item is dropped into can change the value of its stats, such as by adding an additional level to its haste or crit rating. Items that drop in higher-level situations will have a higher value.
Item Stats
Item stats can make or break an item for players. The game uses a variety of them in different ways to encourage players to play with multiple weapons, and prevent one weapon from being "the most effective." The base stats of a weapon are enhanced by the weapon's stat mods which are then boosted by the player's level.
Item upgrades add to that by boosting certain stats on the item. The rarity of an item determines the upgrade cost. For instance, a gray or white item can only be upgraded once, whereas an item with rare levels will be upgraded multiple times with higher prices.
item upgrading to change the stats on an item is to use affixes. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player, and they come in all sizes and shapes. item upgrader are used to give items additional damage or special abilities (such as revitalizing dead or reducing cooling downs), or to differentiate them by naming them.
Presently, all affixes are able to be rerolled by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button with circling arrows. It will cost a set amount in gold and other items. These can be used as upgrade gauges, similar to other rerolling methods.
Players can choose to upgrade an item by specific stats, or reroll affixes. The possible stat ranges of an item are based on the item level, but every item is guaranteed to have at minimum one stat within that range, unless it is an exclusive item or a God roll from a boss in a raid.
Another thing that could change is the possibility of upgrading equipment without having to roll the attaches, or select which stats to boost. But as with base equipment, this would need to be carried out on a per-item level, and the interface for item comparison wouldn't show all possible stats that were gained or lost at the same time.
Item Luck
The Luck stat of a player stacks up to increase the odds of item discoveries, the properties spawned on loot drops, and the intensity of these properties. However, it doesn't directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives the player the chance to upgrade gear earlier in the game. This is especially useful in the early game, because players tend to put weapon scaling and defenses above raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the chances of success when upgrading items with the Blacksmith. This is not to confuse with the Blacksmith’s overall upgrade chances, which increase with each item level. These can also be increased by using anti-materials like the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.
Armor, shields and weapons come with an initial Luck value of 40. These items can be enhanced by golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the type of material used) to give +40 Luck or to increase the Luck of an item up to 140.
Certain items, like the weapon with Hollow-infused components, can also be equipped to increase the damage of any ability that causes damage by five percent. These items are available in the shops or made with the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Not all upgrades work. Cash shop items can be used to increase the chances of success for an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their items if it does not work.
The rate of success of an upgrade is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of successfully upgrading the item, and it can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limits to how much the success rates can be improved, and the overall chance of an upgrade failing can't exceed 100%.
The luck of an item may affect the effectiveness of an upgrade. Each item has a base success rate of 25% and every item that has Luck increases that chance by five percent.
The item upgrade overlays are displayed above items in the inventory. This can cause obscurity to enchantment effects or other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
